I've decided that my family needs a "family date night" on a regular basis. We go out to dinner, watch movies, eat cookies, and go to bed a tad later than normal. So this weekend was our impromptu family date night and my husband and daughter chose
Nemo as the movie to watch. Now I've watched Nemo a few hundred times, like many parents have. I saw it with new eyes this weekend. Through the
ScreamFree Parenting tinted glasses I try to wear everyday and all day. What a great message to give to parents. Let go, trust your kids to try to do the right thing, accept the fact you can not control their entire environment, and know you will know when they know it's time to let them go.
It's so hard to parent, it's so hard to know when to let go. We have to let go little by little as they get older and older. And one things for sure, they keep getting older. They keep growing up. So if you get a chance, watch Nemo again and see the message for parents wrapped in that neat little package!
Be well, Be happy-

Hi dear Tara, Although I'm not a parent I found this post very poignant. I've often through about parenting and how it is the most important job on the planet and yet I know so many parents that tell me that they are just shooting in the dark and have to try things and accept that they will make mistakes. I know many of them talk with other parents and read parenting books, and this many help some, but every child is different. So I have total respect for you and other parents that are trying their hardest to do the best they can. I am humbled. Hugs, Robin.
